So, tonight I finished my obituary, and before everyone decided to start calling the men in white coats, I wrote it for a class and shit. But I'm just so damned glad I actually finished writing something, that I'm totally gonna post it. However, for those of you whom are less morbid, I shall hide it below an LJ cut.

Kimberly Amanda Boyd died yesterday at home from undisclosed causes. She was 34. Kim was attending Harvard Law School, and was home on a break. A high school drop out at the age of 16, illness prevented Kim from returning to school until she was 23. When she reached that age, her GED was taken, and she passed it with flying colors. From there, Kim attended Holyoke Community College. She bloomed there and would later describe it and the relationships she formed there as “some of the best of my life.” Three and a half happy years were spent there before she graduated in 2007 with honors. From there, Kim attended Mount Holyoke College as a Frances Perkins scholar (a program for non-traditional aged women). The opportunity to attend Mount Holyoke was a dream that Kim had fostered from the age of 9 when she had first visited the campus. She flourished there in a way that she had never been allowed to in the confines of a community college, and in 2009 graduated with a double B.A. In both English and Arabic.

Kim had always described herself as transcontinental, so she was very happy when the skills she had showcased at Mount Holyoke opened the door for her to spend the semester after she had graduated abroad. Time was spent in England at Oxford, as well spending time in Cairo and Florance. An avid writer, Kim spent this time working on a short work of fiction that would later be published. The work, entitled, “In his eyes” was a critical success, but not a commercial one, something that bothered her more greatly then she would have admitted.

Always an advocate for human rights and civil liberties for all people “even the morons” she once slyly added, Kim was accepted to Harvard Law as a student. She planned to eventually specialize in International Civil Liberties law, and had intended to do legal work for groups such as Animisty International. It was an odd chose for a women who had once planned to go into marketing, but she would always laugh and blame a class she had taken at HCC for ruining her life.

Kim is survived by her parents Karen and Paul Boyd of West Springfield, as well as her sister Elizabeth and brother Donald, sister in law Savannah and nephews Hunter and Conner. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Aminsity International in her name.

Yeah, I know. My open office didn't have a good spelling replacement, so I was waiting until I got to school to print it out to do a final spell check. But thanks.
